Monday Update – On the Horizon

Before I get to the meat of this post, I got to point this out… If you visit this blog from time to time, you can see it’s got a bit of a new look. That feed you see on the left hand side is a visual peek at my Twitter, Facebook, and G+ feeds. That’s through RebelMouse.

NOW! My second novel is almost complete. I promised a hint at the beginning of this month, and then never delivered. Here’s the tease: It’s a fantasy apocalypse. The stereotypical fantasy world is getting a zombie apocalypse. It’s planned to be a series called Hungry Gods. That name might not stick, but I’m liking it so far. I know that doesn’t quite follow the same feel as BROKEN THINGS, but it’s something I wanted to write for fun. 🙂  It will also introduce my writing to a new audience.

Secondly, May and June have a plethora of book signings coming up. I haven’t updated the book signing page as of writing this post, but there will be three (!!!) signings in Boise this weekend. And then next week, I’ll be returning to Twin Falls to sign books with two other authors at Hastings. I’ll be posting the hours early this week for upcoming book sales and signings.

Upcoming Book Signings

I have created a new Page on this site listing book signings that I am attending. These book signings are with the Idaho Authors’ Community, and it is a great opportunity to meet and discover many wonderful Idaho Authors. I will be updating this list as new events arise.

BOOK SIGNINGS

Book Signing This Friday

Are you in Twin Falls, Idaho or the surrounding area this Friday (April 19, 2013)? I will be selling and signing copies of BROKEN THINGS at The Art and Soul of the Magic Valley in the Lynwood Shopping Center (1329 Filer Avenue East) from 10 am to 3 pm, along with other authors of the Idaho Authors’ Community. I have limited copies available of my book for the signing, so come early if you’re buying. FYI – I got in on this a bit late, so I did not have time to get a reorder. For future signings, I will have plenty. Watch for more book signing announcements soon.

Here’s the Press Release:

Idaho Authors’ Community is coming to the Magic Valley

The Idaho Authors’ Community, a statewide organization of authors and authors-to-be, is coming to the Magic Valley to do a book signing event on Friday, April 19. The event will be held at The Art and Soul of the Magic Valley (Lynwood Shopping Center – 1329 Filer Avenue East in Twin Falls) from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The book-signing offers an opportunity for the public to meet and talk with Idaho authors, and to view a number of different literary works including, fiction, non-fiction, business, historical novels, military memoirs, children’s books, self-enrichment and humor.

The Idaho Authors’ Community is designed to bring readers and local authors together in support of a common interest; reading for pleasure and self-enrichment. In 2013, the IAC will hold book signings in all 44 Idaho counties. If you know of potential locations for IAC events or are interested in joining the IAC, contact Jane Freund or Wynette Mellen at idahoauthorscommunity@gmail.com or 208-407-7457 (Jane).

How to Use Google+ as an Author Part I

Google+ is another option of promotion for authors looking to reach their audience. This post is about laying the foundation.

So you write books. You’ve signed up on Google+. You might have even added a few people to your circles. Now what?

Create a Page for Your Book

  • Just like Facebook, you can create Pages. On the left hand menu that runs down the side of your G+ feed, at the very bottom, is a tab called “More”. This brings up the “Pages” option. Click on “Create Page” and follow along with G+ as it guides you to create your page.
  • For an example, check out the Page I made for BROKEN THINGS (and why not click the Follow and Share buttons while you’re there?) https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/118427865994778769529/118427865994778769529/posts
  • Make sure to explore all of the options, such as adding links, picture, etc.

Share Your Page with Your Followers

  • Switch back to your profile and search for your Page and Follow it. You can Share posts either as your Profile and as your Book Page, but first your book needs some attention through Likes and Follows. Use your main Profile to Share your posts from your Book Page.

In the near future, I’ll look at building an audience using G+.

In the meantime, add me to a circle on Google+: https://plus.google.com/117374776386786140352/posts
