Indie Author Day at the Buhl Public Library

Quick Summary: I am participating in Indie Author Day on October 8th, ’16, along with a lot of other Idaho writers/authors. Follow me (and the event) on various social media. 🙂

This Saturday, I, along with around 15 other authors (or more!), will be at the Buhl Public Libray for Indie Author Day. While most of the day is centered around workshops for indie authors, I will be signing books afterward, starting at 3:30 pm to 5 pm. This is also an excellent opportunity to meet many other indie authors.

I will have my newest novels there, including Apocalypse Witch and Soul Sister.

I am also going to attempt to keep up a steady stream of Snapchat and Instagram Stories throughout the event. Twitter and Facebook too. It might be too much Social Media. Just. Maybe. We’ll see.

On Instagram, add me as gswrite.

Broken Things in One Book One School

Yesterday the Magic Valley High School in Twin Falls kicked off their One Book One School program. This is a program where both staff and students read the same book, 30 minutes a day, for several weeks. They are then holding two contests: an essay and a presentation.

What is particularly exciting (for me) is that they’ve chosen my novel Broken Things for the program. I delivered 200 signed copies to the school last Thursday, and I will also participate in a meet and greet later this month with all of the students.

I released Broken Things in 2013, and this is quite an honor to be chosen (they could have chosen from any of the classics or more widely known authors). A heartfelt special thanks to Ms. Miller for getting the book attention, the rest of the faculty for their support, and to the school and students. You all are awesome. 🙂

Monday Update Part 5

One year ago from yesterday, I released my first book, Broken Things. Since then, I’ve published two others, with my fourth book coming out within a few days.

Broken Things was the novel I wanted to write, a story that I felt was inspired. It is the novel I wanted to launch my career with. I’m still proud of it, even though my writing has continued to grow since then. It’s still my favorite of all my stories. It’s taken me across Southern Idaho to book signings in a variety of venues from an aquarium and to coffee bars and bookstores. It also continues to sell the best of my three titles, so far.
Broken ThingsEven though I am frequently asked if this book will ever have a sequel, I really don’t want to lessen the book by giving it a series. There’s some books (and movies) that lose everything they stand for because of further development, and this I will always believe is one of them. It has reached rank #1,138 in paid bestsellers on Amazon, and broken into the top #100 from a promo free run.

In this second year, I have another sci-fi novel coming out, probably a month or two away. It will be for those of you who enjoyed my first Sci-fi, with a story-line that will hopefully make you think and feel. More on that at a later date.

I will also be writing my other two genre fiction series, being Hungry Gods and Spilling Blood. I’ve promised my wife her advanced copy of Death’s Reach will be in her hands over the next couple of days, which means that you will be able to read it within a week.

In Death’s Reach, the zombie apocalypse takes a number of horrifying new turns as zombie gods begin to extend their influence over the world. There are few sanctuaries left, and the survivors from book 1 find their resolve tested as the world descends into chaos.

If you liked Death Storm, you’ll love Death’s Reach.

July Happenings

July is looking to be a busy month. 🙂

DEATH STORM – Hungry Gods Book 1

DEATH STORM, Book 1 in the Hungry Gods Trilogy is being released just in time to start the month. That means that if you are sick of me talking about BROKEN THINGS, it will be taking a second seat for the new material. Death Storm is a dark fantasy apocalypse featuring a world of sword and sorcery getting to deal with a zombie apocalypse. Watch for a cover reveal soon.

JULY BOOK SIGNINGS

I have not signed on for any book signings this month, but watch for details. I am hoping to feature the new novel at any and all appearances, but it will depend on how quickly I get my books from the printer.

BLOGGER BOOK TOUR

For the end of  July, watch for a Blogger Book Tour. I am planning to feature/host 5 other authors, and visit their blogs in turn.

MISC

Finally, wonder why it’s taken me so long to finish this last book? I’m easily distracted. I’ve started 9 manuscripts over the last couple of months, chasing a lot of fun ideas. some of these manuscripts are already nearly 25% written. I’m making a goal to start finishing all of these projects that I’ve started, one book at a time. As soon as Death Storm hits the virtual shelves, I’ll reveal the next Work-in-Progress.

Hastings Book Signing This Saturday with Local Authors Bernsen and Wilson

This Saturday you can meet three authors from the Magic Valley at Hastings, in Twin Falls, Idaho.

I will be there, with my book BROKEN THINGS, along with Sandra Moore Bernsen and Cathy (Catmarie) Wilson.

This is the link to the Event on Facebook.

Sandra is the author of Free My Heart of Grief to Love.

“Free my Heart of Grief to Love” is an exceptional book about losing oneself in the trials of life and ultimately finding the path through survival to living again. Join Sandra as she shares her life’s journey from her earliest childhood experiences to the events that took her to complete and unimaginable heartbreak and sorrow. Through the pain, emptiness and tears, she begins to question everthing she’d known before. Sheer determination to leave the pain behind and become whole again keeps her going. Learning meditation, finding spiritual peace, the ability to love again and happiness in daily life has been her reward.

Sandra’s story is inspirational and empowering. She acknowledges that each person is on his or her own journey through life. It is Sandra’s hope that each reader will find in her book the healing, peace, joy and inspiration to overcome challenges.

Cathy is the author of Strange: Unexplained Tales from Idaho and Beyond.

A series of stories, mainly ghost stories, that touch upon genuine but unexplained phenomena and strange experiences. It includes the author’s own experiences as well as tales from friends and relatives. Odd categories about talking dolls and sympathetic plant life will complete chapters including dreams, reincarnation, and UFOs.

On Friday,  I will be at the Idaho Aquarium from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

On Saturday, I will be at the Eagles Auxiliary Spring Bazaar from  10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

At both events there will also be other authors from the Idaho Authors’ Community.

Monday Update – On the Horizon

Before I get to the meat of this post, I got to point this out… If you visit this blog from time to time, you can see it’s got a bit of a new look. That feed you see on the left hand side is a visual peek at my Twitter, Facebook, and G+ feeds. That’s through RebelMouse.

NOW! My second novel is almost complete. I promised a hint at the beginning of this month, and then never delivered. Here’s the tease: It’s a fantasy apocalypse. The stereotypical fantasy world is getting a zombie apocalypse. It’s planned to be a series called Hungry Gods. That name might not stick, but I’m liking it so far. I know that doesn’t quite follow the same feel as BROKEN THINGS, but it’s something I wanted to write for fun. 🙂  It will also introduce my writing to a new audience.

Secondly, May and June have a plethora of book signings coming up. I haven’t updated the book signing page as of writing this post, but there will be three (!!!) signings in Boise this weekend. And then next week, I’ll be returning to Twin Falls to sign books with two other authors at Hastings. I’ll be posting the hours early this week for upcoming book sales and signings.

Upcoming Book Signings

I have created a new Page on this site listing book signings that I am attending. These book signings are with the Idaho Authors’ Community, and it is a great opportunity to meet and discover many wonderful Idaho Authors. I will be updating this list as new events arise.
