I didn’t push to complete anything yesterday, I had a little time to write and I went after it. Yesterday my oldest son turned 19 (!!!), so there were other things going on after he got off of work. Looking at my word counts, I think I might make Spilling Blood a priority in the upcoming week (aside from Apocalypse Witch, which I want to see released… she keeps getting bumped).

Thought I’d check in for the first of the month, since February was kinda’ wasted. Despite not getting much done in the way of word count, I still published a short story and a novella last month. Yesterday I hit the ground running, though I didn’t get to my much needed writing. The Time Travel novel is currently on hold. I’m not enjoying the story, so I’m taking a step back. I’m going to get some other projects wrapped up first. I’ve dropped it from the list.

The struggle continues. I actually ended up working on a new idea. It’s not something concrete yet, but an outline and some notes for a book maybe that I’m going to start near the end of the month. I’m not sharing it here yet until it officially gets to be created.

So the writing I did yesterday wasn’t really story writing. I spent the morning brainstorming before we left for church. Then we went shopping, and then the day was pretty much over.

Anyway, I did come up with some plans to get my goals reorganized. Basically it comes down to where I need to split my time between writing, editing, and my daily allotment of time. Hopefully I’ll get February back on course. I’m still working with the post office all week, so it’s not looking easy. One thing I’m going to do this week is cut back on my article reading and sharing, which if you follow me on Twitter, is something I do a lot of. It’s one of the things I’ve got to trim.

So the goal now is: I’m going to push to get in 3.5 hours of writing each day, and target a specific amount of words a day for editing. That’s probably about a 5 hour day. It might not be possible at all this week. We’ll see.

So how great was yesterday? Let’s see… woke up late, never wrote anything except a blog post, and then forgot to post said blog post. I just walked away. When I got up (late) this morning, it was still there waiting for me. Fortunately, I left my screen up on an Excel spreadsheet because the cat was walking all over my laptop apparently. Anyway, that’s why you’re seeing yesterday’s writer’s life update posted this morning. Bad me.

So yeah, spent my day delivering mail. Then I spent the second half crashing and hanging with my family.

Not too concerned about not writing yesterday. That’s my second day off for the year. I recognize that it will happen. I’m really worn out right now from everything else, and I needed sleep. Anyway, I have some time to write this morning, so… see ya!

This is my Saturday crash, apparently. I’m really tired from the week and I failed to get up early this morning, so I won’t be getting any writing in before I leave to deliver mail. This will be a great day to force myself to write in the afternoon. You’ll know if I succeed by tomorrow.

Days like this are painful, when I’ve got my story ideas screaming to get out. It makes working for anyone else very difficult. I’ve got almost an entire week again of working with the post office. I’m not knocking the post office, mind you, I really enjoy the job. But when writing is what you do, it is painful to give your time to anyone else. That goes for when I’m painting houses/businesses too. I consider myself a full-time writer, part-time everything else, but it doesn’t work out like that all the time.

Anyway, I moved Hungry Gods 3 a little further yesterday. I am *almost done*! Since tomorrow is my only day to get a lot of writing in, maybe I’ll try and finish it. I also got in 30 minutes on my Time Travel novel.

Since I’m only getting in 1 hour each day, word count isn’t that impressive, hitting under 2k.

I managed to get in an hour of writing yesterday morning, thanks mostly to getting up early. I then went and delivered mail for 8+ hours. When I got home I worked on my outline for my novel, mainly brainstorming ideas.

Also, this hits the end of week 5. It’s been my slowest week for the year as far as time dedicated to writing. I only wrote for 7.5 hours. This coming week looks just as tough. I am a few chapters away from completing Hungry Gods 3, so at least that’s promising.
